What is Mewgenics?

Mewgenics Tactical Combat

Breed. Battle. Evolve.

From Edmund McMillen (The Binding of Isaac, Super Meat Boy) and Tyler Glaiel (Closure, The End Is Nigh) comes a deeply tactical legacy roguelite that asks: What if you could breed the perfect army of whiskered warriors, then send them on tactical adventures in search of food, money and loads of treasure?

Mewgenics is a tactical role-playing game divided into two stages: combat and cat breeding. Players assemble a team from their ever-growing house, outfit them with class-specific collars, and send them clawing through adventures of turn-based battles that demand careful positioning, wild power combos, and environmental shenanigans.

Combat That Rewards Mastery

Mewgenics features deep tactical combat on procedurally-generated isometric grids. Players must eliminate all enemies to advance, using careful positioning, ability combos, and environmental manipulation.

Combat is heavily influenced by the environment—weather affects abilities, foliage provides cover, and hazards can be exploited. With over 1050 unique abilities and 900+ items, every run presents fresh tactical puzzles.

If a cat loses all hit points, it becomes incapacitated but remains in battle, risking permanent consequences like brain damage. Should a cat die, its items are lost forever—including exclusive rarities.

Mewgenics Cat Breeding

Breeding Creates Your Future

When cats return home from adventures, they carry scars, experience, and sometimes extra heads! This is where the breeding simulation begins. Surviving cats return to the house hub with their statistics and equipment.

Two cats in the same room may mate, producing offspring that inherit their parents' traits. Pass down strange skills and mutations, tinker with bloodlines, and build ever stranger, more powerful cats for future adventures.

Beware: inbreeding results in offspring with mutations and deficiencies. As simulated time passes, cats die from old age—making your choices about which bloodlines to continue absolutely critical.

The Addictive Game Loop

Welcome to Boon County! Each day, assemble a team from your ever-growing house and outfit cats with class-specific collars—Fighter, Tank, Mage, and many more.

Send your mutant feline squad on adventures through chains of battles, events, and boss fights. Those that survive return with valuable experience and loot to breed the next generation.

In a unique twist, cats can only go on one excursion before retiring from adventuring—but they'll defend your house from special bosses and produce future heroes. Upgrade your house and interact with NPCs to gain powerful advantages.
